Our Vision

Our vision is to utilize our unique facilities and gifted staff to be a catalyst for a natural and spiritual transformation in the lives of children, youth, college age, and adults.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a safe, fun supportive environment in which campers can explore challenging and educational experiences, learn from positive role models, and have the opportunity to build positive skills for life.

Our Diversity and Inclusion Statement

Every camper should feel a sense of belonging when at camp. Our commitment is to embrace all campers with divers backgrounds, experiences and beliefs. Camp New Journey welcomes all race, gender, religion, ethnicity, socio-economic status, learning styles, abilities, and varied points of view to our camp.

We feel that diversity is being invited to the dance and Inclusion is being asked to dance. More directly, inclusion is the full engagement of all Camp New Journey community members (campers, parents, alumni, staff, volunteers, etc.). We welcome everyone.

We know that many families may not have always had access to camp or felt included once they experience camp. Our priority is to increase access to Camp for under served communities as well as those who have a history of camping. We want to ensure that all young people feel a sense of belonging at camp.

Camp New Journey and Retreat Center is under new management. The history of our campground began in the 1960’s. The camp, once owned and operated by the City of Hawthorne, was then acquired by New Journey Ministries in the early 2000’s and now under new management we are re-opening the camp to the public.

We are renovating the property and our plan is to restore all of the buildings and possibly add more spaces for campers to stay along with adding more outside activities to enhance the camping experience. If you would like to make a donation towards our renovation goals or receive more information click on our fundraising link below.
