Meals at Camp New Journey

WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Food is crucial to a great retreat or camping experience and can be a prime concern for parents and campers alike. Our menus appeal to many needs including those with special dietary restrictions. We spend a great deal of time planning all the menus, testing and selecting the best food choices, and making items available that promote healthy and tasty choices
Our food service is run by us. We do not farm out to an outside group. We hire our own chef and kitchen staff. We get most of our produce from local markets not off a food service truck. Our menus appeal to many needs including those with special dietary restrictions.
Typically at breakfast, there are several choices of cereal and fruit along with other hot items that vary from day to day. Lunch and dinner typically have a salad bar with lots of choices in addition to hot items. We also ask the campers to take a vegetable (at least a little) of some sort at lunch and dinner. Retreat guest have a set menu.

We want to challenge the campers to think about and take responsibility for their actions. Again, it’s more encouragement to work on a clean tray and eat what you selected. We want the campers to try to do their best. The campers can go back for a second, but we will ask them to eat what is on their tray first since they control what they take.
